2012 DOG OF THE YEAR? FRENCH BULLDOGS ARE SERIOUSLY POPULAR

I was a bit alarmed to see this.  Yes I have two french bulldogs in my life and I adore them and all Frenchies.  But I also work with French bulldog rescue.  8 years ago they had about 10 dogs a year.  Now they have hundreds that they have to find new awesome homes for.  They are adorable, but when I see this I fear people who do not know what it takes to have a Frenchie or a dog for that fact in their lives get one because they are “fashionable” and then give them up when it becomes too much.  Don’t get me started on the puppy mills and backyard breeders who start churning them out to make a fast$.

Off my soap box - enjoy the photos and hug whatever dogs or animals that you share your life with.

A big, huge, gigantic thanks to Pilots N Paws for helping our Cowgirl move to a hospice home this weekend! Cowgirl will now be spending her days in a warm, loving home in Ohio. "What is a hospice dog," you ask? Most people know from sad experience that when someone enters a hospice program, it means they are nearing the end of life. At FBRN, we are very fortunate to have generous, loving foster homes and donors who are willing to help Frenchies who are too ill to be adopted, but who are still enjoying a good quality of life. If you would like to sponsor Cowgirl, feel free to visit her full profile to make a PayPal donation: http://frenchbulldogrescue.org/htdocs/foster/cowgirl.html You can leave an encouraging message for Cowgirl by filling in the little box that asks you to leave a message. We’d love to hear from you!

French Bulldogs Steal the Show at Le Taste of France

Anyone who attended Le Taste of France Show September 29-30 will agree that the cutest event, by far, was the French bulldog show. Although Bruno took home first prize, all 25 finalists glowed in the spotlight as they hammed it up for the adoring crowd.

Although the dogs themselves provided the vital component, the show would not have been a success without help from the French Bulldog Rescue Network, an organization founded in 2001 to find homes for these adorable, bat-eared pups. With a mission to “rescue, rehabilitee, and rehome Frenchies in need,” they were the go-to authority on all things French bulldog for Le Taste of France.

FBRN had a solid presence at the show, as well. Gui, a current foster dog looking for his “forever home,” show up with a blue chariot in tow, posing for pictures with many of his newfound fans. FBRN volunteers, such as the aforementioned Bruno, as well as Grace, Kermit, Puppy, and Lola spent the weekend giving festival-goers “French kisses” for donations.

With over 140 French bulldogs currently in foster homes across the U.S. and Canada, and with veterinary bills exceeding $25,000 a month, FBRN needs all of the help it can get! Please visit FrenchBulldogRescue.org and lend a helping hand to these delightful littlebouledogues français. If you’re not in the market for a furry friend, you can check out their “How to Help” page for other ideas.

You can visit FBRN’s Instagram page to see some fun images from Le Taste of France’s canine invasion.
